Which smart locks and access systems work for a golf simulator studio with no staff?
An unstaffed studio needs a door that opens for one paying customer, for their booked bay and their booked hours, and shuts to everyone else. Every system below can do that. They differ in how the credential is delivered, what they cost per door, and what hardware you must buy.
Everything in the tables comes from the vendor's own page or API reference, linked on each row. Where a vendor does not publish a number, the row says so instead of guessing.

What each access vendor publishes
| Fact | Source |
|---|---|
| Kisi says it integrates with golf scheduling and management platforms so players can only enter for their reserved bay and time, and that doors unlock at the start of a session and lock again as it ends. | Kisi: access control for golf simulator facilities (read 2026-10-18) |
| Kisi says it works with most electronic locks, and that its Wiegand Board lets you keep compatible existing readers and credentials while moving to the cloud. | Kisi: access control for golf simulator facilities (read 2026-10-18) |
| Kisi's answer for someone who arrives without a booking is Intercom Pro, sold separately, so they can call in and staff can unlock remotely. | Kisi: access control for golf simulator facilities (read 2026-10-18) |
| Kisi lists hardware at Reader Pro 2 $475, Controller Pro 2 $850 and Terminal Pro $595, with software "Starting at $99". The page does not say whether $99 is per door or per month, and installation is not included. | Kisi: pricing (read 2026-10-18) |
| RemoteLock says a unique credential is created for each booking and only works during the reservation window; its golf page names Butter and Birrdi as booking platforms it integrates with. | RemoteLock: golf simulators (read 2026-10-18) |
| RemoteLock's commercial plans list Premium from $6 per door per month on an annual contract, from $7.50 billed monthly, and Enterprise from $12 and $15 per door per month. | RemoteLock: plans (read 2026-10-18) |
| RemoteLock describes "800+ hardware and software integrations" and shows logos for Allegion, Dormakaba, Kwikset, HID, Schlage, Honeywell Home, Yale and others. Its logo list also includes lock platforms that OpenTeeSheet excludes (see the exclusion note below). | RemoteLock: home page (read 2026-10-18) |
| Seam is an API layer, not a lock. Its golf page says it can generate a unique access code for the customer when a booking is created, activate it only during the reserved time slot, and revoke it automatically after the session ends. | Seam: automated access control for golf simulator businesses (read 2026-10-18) |
| Seam's published device types include Schlage, Yale, Kwikset, August, igloohome and Salto locks. | Seam OpenAPI document (device_type list) (read 2026-10-18) |
| Salto describes KS as cloud-based Access Control as a Service. Salto's own minimum kit is a Salto lock, an IQ gateway and a KS subscription. | Salto: Salto KS solution page (read 2026-10-18) Salto support: general information (KS minimum kit) (read 2026-10-18) |
| Salto's Connect API credentials come from your local Salto Business Unit; there is no self-serve developer sign-up on its portal. | Salto KS Connect API overview (read 2026-10-18) |
| igloohome documents duration PINs as valid between a start and an end date and time. Its algoPIN variant is generated remotely and must be used within 24 hours of the start to activate. | igloohome support: duration PINs (read 2026-10-18) |
What OpenTeeSheet drives
The door systems below are the ones the product has an adapter for, each pinned by its own test.
| Fact | Source |
|---|---|
| Kisi: a phone unlock, an access link and QR code Kisi emails the golfer, and cards at Kisi readers; one booking can open several doors in order. | OpenTeeSheet behaviour, pinned by automated tests: lock-kisi.test.ts, lock-multidoor-realdb.test.ts |
| RemoteLock: a keypad PIN per booking on RemoteLock locks, an RFID card for the booking window, and Unlock door from the app; one booking can be bound to several doors. | OpenTeeSheet behaviour, pinned by automated tests: lock-remotelock.test.ts, lock-multidoor-realdb.test.ts |
| igloohome: an offline keypad code per booking. | OpenTeeSheet behaviour, pinned by automated tests: lock-provider.test.ts |
| Seam: one API for mixed hardware, a keypad code per booking on locks connected to Seam, and Unlock door from the app. | OpenTeeSheet behaviour, pinned by automated tests: lock-seam.test.ts |
| Salto KS: a Salto-generated keypad PIN per booking valid only for the booking window, a registered Salto tag bound to the window, and Unlock door from the app. Tested against Salto's published request shapes; not yet against a live Salto site. | OpenTeeSheet behaviour, pinned by automated tests: lock-salto.test.ts |
| Schlage and Yale locks are reached through Seam or RemoteLock, not through a direct adapter. | OpenTeeSheet behaviour, pinned by automated tests: lock-provider.test.ts |
What we exclude
Not supported: TTLock (Sciener), ZKTeco and Tuya-based smart locks — including when they are offered through RemoteLock or another platform. These are Chinese-origin lock systems and OpenTeeSheet will not drive them. If you are buying hardware, choose a Kisi reader, a RemoteLock-native keypad or card reader, or an igloohome keypad.
Ask before you buy
- Can the system set a start AND an end time on each credential, from our booking software, without a person clicking? (Every vendor above says yes; ask for the API page.)
- What happens at 2am if the building's internet or the vendor's cloud is down? The answer differs by vendor: see /door-offline.
- Does one booking open every door on the way to the bay, or only the bay door?
- What is the per-door price at our door count on month-to-month billing, and what does installation add?
